  • How should I prepare?
Have a think about the types of roles you'd like to play, if you're unsure you could ask friends/family who know you well what they think and bring clothes that may suggest those types of characters. I'll also ask about the type of characters you gravitate towards so I can change lighting to compliment the vibe. Feel free to bring as many changes of clothes as you would like, there is a private room to change. I would advise avoiding anything with a large logo, as this can be distracting. If you wear make-up I'd suggest a more natural look, or however you wear make-up on a day-to-day basis. If you'd like to chat and discuss with me before your shoot (or even before you book), just send a message to my email: josephfinnphotography@gmail.com
  • Can I reschedule?
Yes of course! Just email: josephfinnphotography@gmail.com and we can arrange a new date.
  • How/when do I get my images?
After the shoot your images will be uploaded to a private online gallery within 24 hours, where you can narrow down your selection. Once you have your picks just let me know and I'll start the edit. The edits will be sent within 1 week of confirmation. Do let me know if you need them quickly, although it is usually much quicker than a week. I will send full size edits of your photos, as well as, 5x4 crops as is industry standard. If you require black and white edits or any other crops/smaller file size, just let me know!
  • Can I get additional edits?
Yes! Additional edits can be purchased at £15 per edit.
  • How are the photos edited?
I like to keep my edits minimal, fine tuning the colours and contrast to make them stand out, but keeping them truthful. I will retouch any spots, but I will only edit permanent features like wrinkles and scars if requested. I believe it's a disservice to yourself if you come to a casting looking different to the headshot that got you in the room. Many casting directors have spoken on the topic and the importance of headshots being a true representation of how you look day-to-day. If you'd like a revised edit, let me know what you would like changed and I'll make sure you're happy with it! When posting your images please do not post them with your own edits or additional filters, as this isn't an accurate representation of my work.
  • How do I get to the studio?
Address: Manor St Factory 15-19 Manor St Manchester M12 6HE Once you arrive send me a message to let me know and I will come out to greet you. There is free parking if you drive and the studio's only a 15 min walk from Manchester Piccadilly.
  • What do I get?
Pay What You Can sessions are exactly the same as the Classic shoot. 90 min shoot, 4 edits.
  • How much?
Whatever you can afford. I try to keep my headshots affordable, but what's affordable varies from person to person.
  • Why?
There are a lot of hurdles in the acting industry and recent studies found only 8% of people in Film and TV are from working class backgrounds. This compounded with the fact that only 2% of actors make a living wage solely through acting. It's my hope that this can give people who may be struggling a bit of help.
  • I wasn't selected, can I reapply?
Yes, of course! The amount of Pay What You Can applications I can accept will vary from month to month. This can be down to availability or income. There are quite a few expenses to shoot and I also have to make a living, so I have to take this into account when going over applications.
